- Challenge sexist jokes, such as dumb blonde jokes or jokes about rape.
- Avoid using words such as “bitch”, “hoe”, “slut.”
- Recognize when you “zone out” when women are speaking, when you value a man’s opinion…
Sorry, this is a little angering to me. I agree with a lot of this, but much of this is “give me respect because I’m a woman”. How bout I give you respect because I respect you, not just because of what gender you are? Plus, lumping “all men” together is a dangerous game, especially when you take in factors of sexuality, like a gay male vs. a straight male. From my opinion, this is a hetero-normative woman’s privileged list.
EDIT: Also, people need to separate “men” from “masculinity”. Just saying, as not all “men” would call themselves -or even want to associate with -being “masculine”. And also, privilege needs to be recognized as a relative thing and not true in all situations, countries, or societies nor is it absolute. While it’s def’ true most all of the world’s cultures and societies have been male-dominated, certain “privileges” listed aren’t all true everywhere.
